A reintroduction of an earlier carkit, the 1/25 scale Baldwin Motion 1970 Camaro by AMT brings as many thrills to the display case as the full-sized car to the street. Crafted by Joel Rosen, utilizing his intimate knowledge of both drag-racing and high-powered engineering, the engine beneath the hood was a wonder to behold. Teaming up with Baldwin Chevrolet in 1966, Rosen helped produce and design this American high-performance legend. The joint venture held such faith in its engineering that it guaranteed success on the drag strip and stood behind the engine’s ability to rocket this car to 120 miles per hour.
While it cannot outrun some of the world’s best rollercoasters, this AMT plastic kit does an excellent job of bringing the muscle car to life. It displays a retro-exterior filled with chrome side-pipes and the classic ‘70s dips and curves. Featuring a posable front hood, a detailed 454 CU V8 engine, a set of custom wheels, a large number of new decals, and custom side-pipes, it is astonishing that it all fits in the same box. If you cannot afford the real thing, consider adding modelcar to your collection.
