Unearthed from deep within the AMT vault, this popular kit makes its first reappearance in almost fifty years - modelers rejoice! Once upon a time, Richard Petty himself climbed into the driver’s seat of this little number. His design company, Petty Enterprises, once sold the Dodge Dart Sportsman out of their catalog and its owner felt pressured to prove the product’s worth on the track. Both on and off the racetrack, this kit-car proved successful; in 1975 the Sportsman even featured at Dixie Speedway in Atlanta. Not only was this kit-car a hit but the car kit from AMT happened to be as well.
While they vehemently denied it could ever be retooled, the company found a way. Updated decals and a deluxe version of the packaging start this reissue off with a bang. In terms of final build, this 1/25 scale plastic car kit features a highly-detailed motor, chassis, and interior along with wide rubber racing tires. For those nostalgic for the old thing, or those new to craft looking for a first time build, this retooling offers a perfect balance of racing mythology and easy assembly.
